Chile has announced that it will join China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Chilean Foreign Minister Roberto Ampuero notes that joining the BRI would position Chile as a more attractive investment destination for Chinese investors among the Latin American countries. Considering the fact that China is Chile’s largest trading partner, Chile is confident that the deal will help bolster its economy and result in even closer bilateral ties. The agreement will be finalized and signed later this week.
